Description

The Functional Genomics group in the Target, Disease, and Systems Biology global function at Client is seeking a collaborative and highly motivated research associate!

  • This team is focused on generating scientific knowledge that translates into transformative therapies for patients with unmet medical need.
  • Our multidisciplinary team works closely with diverse therapeutic area experts across immunology, ophthalmology, rare and neurological diseases, oncology, and gene therapy to identify and validate the next generation of groundbreaking therapeutics using CRISPR screens, automation, flow cytometry, and genomics.
  • The successful candidate will contribute to drug target discovery projects for multiple indications and will gain deep training, knowledge and expertise in the application of cutting-edge technologies to drug development, including using CRISPR, siRNA, and pharmacological perturbations for target identification and validation.
  • Degree in Biology.
  • Cell culture – experience 1-3 year's experience.
  • 70% lab, 30% analysis Familiarity with gene editing tools such as CRISPR-Cas9.
  • Experience with molecular and biochemical assays, such PCR/qRT-PCR/NGS, western blot, and flow cytometry. Prior experience designing, validating, and optimizing cell-based assays. 

Summary of key responsibilities

  • Independently run biological experiments, including analyzing results
  • Collaborate with senior researchers to develop and execute existing and novel cell-based assays to identify, validate, and translate high-value targets in diverse clinical indications
  • Explore, implement, and master new techniques and approaches
  • Collaborate with other groups in Target, Disease, and Systems Biology and Therapeutic Area partners
  • Communicate ideas and results to internal and external parties in verbal, written, and presentation formats, when appropriate 

Essential Qualifications:

  • B.S. or M.S. in molecular biology, cell biology or related field is required. Additional experience would be valued.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more laboratory skill sets (molecular biology, cell biology, genomics)
  • Demonstrated experience with mammalian cell culture and cellular assays
  • Instinctive team player with excellent interpersonal skills and great attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and driven to learn 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with gene editing tools such as CRISPR-Cas9
  • Experience with molecular and biochemical assays, such PCR/qRT-PCR/NGS, western blot, and flow cytometry
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner through written or oral communications
  • Prior experience designing, validating, and optimizing cell-based assays.
