Description

Rangam is seeking candidates for a Contract role as a Molecular and Cellular Biologist with our client Pfizer, one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies. Seeking candidates in Cambridge,MA or willing to relocate.

Duration: 6-months

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a scientist to join client’s Research Unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating massive single-cell perturbational data using functional genomics and single cell transcriptomics technologies in collaboration with a small team.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generate custom lentiviral libraries and maintain extensive cell cultures.
  • Generate edited pools of cells via lentiviral transduction and arrayed electroporation.
  • Generate single-cell data via several commercial workflows, including from 10x Genomics.
  • Develop, modify, and customize such procedures as needed to succeed in specific cell lines and types, and at large scale.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports to a lead scientist in Lab.
  • Collaborates with and supports several multi-disciplinary experimental teams on a per-project basis.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors or Masters + 3 years of experience in Biology, Immunology or a related field

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with standard cell culture techniques including primary immune cells handling and isolation, maintenance of cell lines and in vitro stimulation of primary immune cells, experience with standard molecular biology techniques including lentivirus infection, qPCR, western blot, and flow cytometry.
  • Bonus: direct experience in pooled cell screening of immune cells using CRISPRi, CRISPRa, and other methods of in vitro gene editing.

PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Typical bench work, including sitting, pipetting, lifting <10lb items

Hard Skills:

  • Diverse Cell Types
  • Molecular biology techniques *qPCR
  • Gene Editing

Preferred:

  • Direct experience in pooled cell screening of immune cells using CRISPRi, CRISPRa, and other methods of in vitro gene editing.

What will the resource be working with, or, have exposure to?:

  • Lentivirus
  • Unscreened blood, human tissue or human cell lines

What is the minimum education experience required?: 

  • Bachelors or Masters + 3 years of experience in Biology, Immunology or a related field
