Position Summary

  • The Client Inflammation & Immunology Research Unit (I&I RU) in Cambridge is looking for a Senior Scientist to join the in vivo group.
  • The main responsibilities are to provide in vivo pharmacology expertise in models of neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory diseases and to conduct and support mechanistic in vivo, in vitro and ex vivo studies.
  • Key additional qualifications are expertise in rodent brain delivery techniques and immunohistology.
  • Analyze data and present to project teams.
  • A high level of autonomy is expected. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide in vivo pharmacology expertise in in-vivo models of neurodegenerative diseases, ex-vivo analyses and autoimmunity.
  • Develop, implement and conduct in-vivo efficacy studies and contribute to the mechanistic understanding of preclinical neuroinflammation-related studies.
  • Execute preclinical mouse in vivo studies in the neuroinflammation/neurodegeneration space. This includes the establishment of new mouse models.
  • Contribute to the mechanistic understanding of in vivo results by supporting ex vivo and in vitro analyses.
  • Analyze, interpret, upload and present data in project team meetings.
  • Serve as a resource to explore new avenues for preclinical research in neurodegeneration. 

Organizational Relationships

Provide the primary groups or key positions that this position will have interaction with as a regular part of the position responsibilities. Include any external interactions as appropriate.

  • Collaborate with preclinical in vivo team members as well as other Client colleagues from within and outside of the Inflammation and Immunology department
  • Interact with outside contract research organizations (CROs) and academic collaborators 

Education And Experience

Indicate the formal education, certification or license(s) required and/or preferred. Include the minimum number of years of relevant experience required for the position (where legally permissible).

  • PhD, or Master's Degree with 2+ years of experience or Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of experience in the in vivo neuroinflammation and-or neurodegeneration scientific space.
  • Working knowledge of biopharmaceutical research and drug discovery. 

Technical Skills Requirements

Indicate the technical skills required and/or preferred, as applicable.

  • Hands on experience with immunohistology, transcriptomic and proteomic methods and cell culture techniques.
  • Hands-on in vivo expertise including mouse brain delivery techniques and rodent brain dissection
  • Decision- and action-oriented, with a high level of autonomy.
  • Excellent communication and analysis skills: ability to compute complex information to conclusion and recommendations
